Moving out and cleaning

When you are moving out, there is a lot to keep in mind so that the housing is sparkling clean for the next student who moves in. We have collected information about the cleaning itself and what we can offer to help you along the way.

Checklist for moving out

You will be sent a checklist when you move into a new housing with us. It is used to allow you as a resident to report any errors and deficiencies when moving in. When you move out, you will be given the same checklist, to ensure that everything is in the same condition as when you moved into the next resident. We have attached the list below, but you will also find it in the housing portal.

The housing

Wash the ceiling and walls. Remove stains.

Wash the doors on both sides, above and below the door leaf. Wash the door frame.

Wash windows inside/outside, including window frames, blinds, curtain rods, and moldings.

Clean sockets, light switches, and panel heaters – remember the back, under, and above.

Clean air vents.

Wash floors and skirting boards.

Bathroom

Wash ceiling, walls, mirrors, and door.

Wash bathroom cabinet.

Wash the toilet – inside, out, and under.

Wash the washbasin (also under), and fittings.

Wash the shower fittings and shower walls/shower enclosure very thoroughly.

Clean air vents.

Clean the strainer and drain in the shower. Remove the grate and remove dirt that is in the drain.

Storage room

The storage room must be emptied and cleaned. The association is not responsible for belongings left behind.

Furniture

Wash the desk lamps, ceiling lamps, and similar.

Wash the desk and desk chair.

Wash the sofa, coffee table, and armchair.

Dust the bed, mattress topper, and bed legs.

Empty and clean the wardrobes (top, inside, and outside). Clean the drawers and bookcases (also remember under shelves).

Kitchen

Remove any food and clean (your part of) the refrigerator and freezer.

Wash (your) kitchen cabinets and kitchen drawer/shelf. Remove any food items.

Extra for apartments:

Pull out the refrigerator, and wash the wall and floor behind it. Also, wash the outside of the refrigerator.

Wash the kitchen sink and water tap.

Pull out the oven, and wash the wall and floor behind it. Wash the oven (inside, outside, and hob), and remember the baking tray.

Wash the extractor fan and filter.

Wash the splash wall.

Move-out check together with Samskipnaden

For residents in Tromsø, Alta, Narvik and Harstad, we offer the opportunity to book a move-out check towards the end of the lease.

You choose a date and time that suits you, and we will go through the apartment with you. If the cleaning is approved, we can take over the key immediately.

Booking can be made on Min side after the termination of the lease has been submitted, or by clicking the button below.

Remember to choose a date BEFORE the expiration of your lease, and not after.

If you do not book a move-out check, we will check the apartment as usual after the key has been submitted.

Before we come to check, all the points on the checklist must be completed.

The check should preferably be done when you are ready to leave the apartment. However, if you are traveling in the evening/weekend, the check should be as close to departure as possible.

You should have time to correct any deficiencies we may point out before you leave.

Are you short on laundry equipment? Samskipnaden assists with a "laundry package". Here you will find the tools you need to clean all surfaces in your home. It includes a bucket, sponges, mops, mop handles, cloths, and "magic" detergents that you cannot buy in regular stores.

You can borrow the laundry package for free, but all items must be returned. The laundry package is ordered through Min side.
