There are surprisingly many advantages to eating with others rather than alone. First and foremost, eating together is a relaxing way to get to know people. Food becomes a natural conversation topic, and there’s less pressure to constantly keep the conversation going when you’re also eating.
It has also been proven that eating together helps reduce stress. You’re “forced” to sit down, enjoy your meal, and take a break from whatever you’re doing, instead of eating while working in front of your computer. And in cases where you eat and work with someone at the same time, it becomes a shared experience.
If that weren’t enough, eating together also makes you eat better. Instead of dinner being half a bag of chips you found in the cupboard because you didn’t feel like cooking just for yourself, you’ll usually take the time to prepare something tasty and nutritious when it’s a meal you share.
