Apply for Kindergarten in Alta

All kindergartens in your municipality use a common system for applications and admissions. Through the shared application portal, you can easily apply for a place in both student kindergartens and municipal kindergartens.

If you are missing a Norwegian personal number, you must contact the Service Desk Alta Municipality.

Application deadlines

You can apply for a kindergarten place throughout the year, and we have rolling admissions if there are available spots. However, to be included in the main admission process, you must apply by 1st March.

Offers for kindergarten places will be sent to the primary applicant* via email. Therefore, make sure to provide a correct and up-to-date email address.

Important deadlines in Alta:

• Application for transfer: 1st March
• Application deadline for new applicants: 1st March

* Primary applicant: The person listed in the application portal as the applicant on behalf of the child, who will receive all information and offers regarding the kindergarten place.

Here you will find an overview of prices for our kindergartens. Please note that July is a fee-free month for all kindergarten places.

The Parliament has decided that all kindergartens in Nord-Troms and Finnmark will be free of charge from August 2023.
