Location

Storskogåsen Student Housing is in a nice and family-friendly area on the top of the island of Tromsøya, 2 km from downtown Tromsø and 4 km from the university. The student housing comprises of four apartment blocks and terrace housing. The residents have access to a communal building with a sauna. On-site car parking is available.

Housing

These flats comprise of a corridor, living room with kitchenette, bedroom and bathroom. There are no furniture or white goods included. There are storage rooms in the basement and a communal laundry located on the ground floor in Luleåvegen 21. These flats are suitable for couples, single students or small families.

Neighbourhood

Storskogåsen Student Housing is perfect if you enjoy outdoor recreation. It is situated beside forested areas, "Tromsømarka", which are popular for excursions year-round. It is furthermore adjacent to the network of illuminated cross-country ski trails that stretches the length of the island. It’s a five-minute walk to Charlottenlund, a popular, skiing, ice skating and tobogganing area for children and young people in winter. There is also an outdoor gym. The closest supermarket is in Myreng, a 10-minute walk away. A larger supermarket is just a short bus ride away at Elverhøy. You can catch a bus to Giæverbukta, where you will find Tromsø’s largest shopping centre with a wide range of shops and places to eat. Storskogåsen Student Kindergarten is next to the student housing. There are also schools in the area.

Walk or cycle to campus

There are excellent conditions to bike, walk or ski from Storskogåsen Student Housing to the university. A network of illuminated cross-country ski trails stretching the length of the island connects the student housing with the campus. It will take you 30 minutes to walk, and 15 minuets by bike. You can easily walk to downtown Tromsø in 25 minutes.

Parking

Tromso kommune has a fee of 100 NOK per month for parking. To make an agreement about parking please read more at samskipnaden.no/Frequently Asked Questions/Parking. Guest must pay with the parking app Easy Park. Read more on signs at the parking areas.

Public transportation

There are good bus connections to the city centre. Route 26, which stops near the student housing, goes to the city centre and Giæverbukta. Swap to 20/21 from the city centre to the university or 34 from Giæverbukta. In the morning/afternoon, route 36 will take you direct to/from the university in 20 minutes.
