Location

Åsgårdvegen Student Housing is located in scenic surroundings on the south of the island of Tromsø. It’s 5 km from the university and 2 km from downtown Tromsø. Single rooms and family flats are spread over a seven-storey apartment block and four wooden buildings. The block is renovated in 2022.

Housing

There are 3 various types of rooms in the block. The room is 20 m² and suitable for 2 students/couple. The room is furnished with a bed (150 cm), desk, chair, book shelf, coffee table, lounge chair and a wardrobe. It also has a private bathroom. Residents must provide their own bedding, curtains and kitchen utensils. Up to 11 residents share each kitchen. In the basement of the apartment block there is a common room for your bike. A private storage room can be available for rent. Make an inquiry in the Housing portal for further questions. All residents have access to the communal laundry in the basement of the apartment block. Residents from Åsgårdvegen 13-23 must use the basement entrace.

Neighbourhood

Åsgårdvegen Student Housing is a perfect base for outdoor recreation. It’s situated beside large areas of forest, which are popular for excursions year-round. There is easy access to hiking terrain and illuminated cross-country ski trails, providing excellent opportunities for outdoor recreation year-round. The lake Prestvannet and surrounding park area are great for walks/jogging year-round. Part of the network of illuminated cross-country ski trails lead to the lake, while the road around the lake is excellent for jogging. The Prestvannet Student Kindergarten is the nearest kidergarten. The closest supermarket and gym at Elverhøy are less than 1 km away. The gym connected to the Elverhøy Student Housing, which features basic strength and conditioning equipment, is open to members of the Kraft student sports centre. The garbage disposal is located next to the block. For bigger items, please contact the Student Housing department to borrow a Remiks card.

Walk or cycle to campus

There are excellent conditions for biking, walking or skiing from Åsgårdvegen Student Housing to the university. A network of illuminated cross-country ski trails stretching the length of the island connects the student housing with the campus.

Public transportation

There are good bus connections to downtown Tromsø and to the bus terminal in Giæverbukta, which is a hub for many buses. From here, you can catch a bus to virtually anywhere. There is a bus stop a few minutes’ walk from the student housing.
