Location

Ørndalen Student Housing is close to nature in a child-friendly setting with wonderful views. The student housing is on the north of the island of Tromsøya, 3 km from the university and 6 km from the city centre. The student housing is in small wooden houses built in sections of two or three houses, and comprises of single rooms, two and three-room family flats and disability-friendly flats. The residents have access to a communal building containing laundry, living room with kitchen and sauna.

Housing

This flat comprises of a corridor, lounge with kitchenette, three bedrooms, bathroom and indoor storage room. The apartment is rented out unfurnished and without white goods. Students with children will be prioritized for these flats. The laundry is located in the communal house in Tunvegen 39.

Neighbourhood

Ørndalen Student Housing is a perfect base for outdoor recreation. It’s close to large areas of forest, which are popular for excursions year-round. There is easy access to hiking terrain and illuminated cross-country ski trails, providing excellent opportunities for outdoor recreation year-round, including Tromsøya’s highest point, Varden. The student housing is close to the suburb of Stakkevollan, where facilities include an indoor swimming pool, sports hall, medical centre and supermarket. The closest student kindergarten is Gimle Student Kindergarten.

Walk or cycle to campus

There are excellent oportunities to bike or walk from Ørndalen Student Housing to the university. Many people in Tromsø also ride their bikes in winter, so if you accept the challenge you can get to the university quickly in winter too. The road Hansine Hansens veg has a cycling lane and passes Gimle Student Kindergarten on the way. There is easy access to the network of illuminated cross-country ski trails stretching the length of the island, including via the university campus. If you enjoy skiing, the ski trails are prepared providing there is sufficient snow. It will take you approx. 40 minutes to reach the campus on foot, and 15 minutes by bike.

Public transportation

The student housing has good bus connections to downtown Tromsø and campus. Routes 20 and 42 both stop right outside. Route 20 drives to the city via the university, while route 42 drives via Stakkevollvegen.

Parking

Tromso kommune has a fee of 100 NOK per month for parking. To make an agreement about parking please read more at samskipnaden.no/Frequently Asked Questions/Parking. Guest must pay with the parking app Easy Park. Read more on signs at the parking areas.
