Location

Stakkevollan Student Housing is in a scenic area north on the island of Tromsøya, 2 km from the university and 5 km from downtown Tromsø. The student housing comprises of two and three-storey terrace housing with single rooms and one bedroom flats. The residents have access to a communal laundry and a sauna.

Housing

Each single room is 12 m² and is furnished with a bed (80 /90 cm), bedside table, desk, drawer unit, chair, book shelf, coffee table and lounge chair. You need to provide your own bed linen, curtains and kitchen utensils. Four residents share each kitchen/living room and two share each bathroom. The studio apartments have access to a communal storage room for sporting equipment. The laundry is located in the communal house in the middle of the housing area, Stakkevegen 79 Many of the kitchens are being renovated in 2020/2021.

Neighbourhood

Stakkevollan Student Housing is an excellent base for outdoor recreation. The student housing is beside large areas of forest, which are popular for excursions year-round. There is easy access to hiking terrain and illuminated cross-country ski trails. The student housing is close to the suburb of Stakkevollan, where facilities include an indoor swimming pool, sports hall, medical centre and supermarket.

Walk or cycle to campus

There are excellent conditions to bike or walk from Stakkevollan Student Housing to the university. Many people in Tromsø also ride their bikes in winter, so if you are and adventurous type you can get to the university quickly in winter too. The road Hansine Hansens veg has a cycling lane and the ride to the campus takes about 25 minutes. There is easy access to the network of illuminated cross-country ski trails stretching the length of the island, including the university campus. The ski trails are prepared throughout the winter, providing there is sufficient snow.

Public transportation

The student housing has good bus connections to downtown Tromsø and the university. Routes 20 and 42 stop by the shop at Utsikten, a couple of minutes’ walk from the student housing. Route 20 drives to the city centre via the university, while route 42 drives to the city centre along Stakkevollvegen.

Parking
